Energy attorney Morten Lund was interviewed on Phoenix public radio station KJZZ 91.5 for a piece titled “California Mandates Solar Power On All Newly-Built Homes,” published May 11, 2018. The item discusses California’s new requirement for solar panels on every home built starting in 2020, which was approved unanimously by the California Energy Commission and is the first such mandate in the U.S.

Lund notes that while the solar mandate is a state-level requirement, “similar and more-targeted” local actions were already being taken by municipalities in California. “This has been in the works for a decade,” he said. “This is pursuant to a 2008 law and related legislation requiring essentially net carbon zero for California buildings starting in 2020.”
