PORTLAND, Ore.—Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that trademark partners Anne W. Glazer, Alfredo Villanueva, and Matthew R. Wilmot from the firm’s Portland office and Joshua G. Gigger from the firm’s Salt Lake City office have been recognized in the 2023 edition of the World Trademark Review (WTR) WTR 1000—The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals. In addition, Stoel Rives’ trademark practices in Oregon and Utah are listed as recommended practices.
Glazer is a leading trademark, marketing, and distribution attorney. Recognized by WTR as a gold-band practitioner, she handles a broad range of product development, branding, marketing, sales, and distribution issues and regularly works with clients of all sizes, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Glazer has been included in The Best Lawyers in America ® in Trademark Law and Copyright Law since 2002 and in the Chambers USA rankings in Intellectual Property since 2010. In its editorial, WTR noted that Glazer “is the number-one pick for many wineries, vineyards, and alcoholic drinks companies, for which she handles a huge number of US and international trademark instructions but is also relied on by many others.”
Villanueva’s practice comprises an array of patent and trademark services for clients ranging from individuals and start-ups to medium and large public companies. In his trademark practice, he works with clients to develop and protect strong trademarks, as well as to enforce trademark rights through infringement proceedings, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and domain name arbitrations. WTR notes that Villanueva “is the go-to for several prestigious companies, including a technology industry leader, which he has served on a global basis for more than two decades.”
Wilmot focuses his practice on the representation of technology-based companies and clients in other industries with intellectual property assets. He regularly assists clients with searching and clearing trademarks both domestically and internationally, prosecuting domestic and international trademark applications, and developing and maintaining trademark portfolios. Of Wilmot, WTR wrote that he “stands out for his ability to advise patrons holistically with respect to all their IP matters and for demonstrating impressive range in counselling beyond intellectual property.”
Gigger’s practice generally focuses on registering, licensing, and enforcing, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other intellectual property, and the preparation and negotiation of licenses and other commercial agreements. He has significant experience with international trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement, and global trademark portfolio management.
WTR uses a combination of in-person, telephone, and video interviews and review of written submissions from firms detailing their recent trademark-related activity to identify the leading professionals and firms deemed outstanding at obtaining, protecting, managing, enforcing, and monetizing trademarks.
