Last year’s top award went to Golden 1 Center, the one-year-old home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and the world’s most sustainable and technologically advanced sports arena. Kings public address announcer Scott Moak served as master of ceremonies for the luncheon this year.

“Opportunities are flourishing for the Capital Region start-up community, with a strengthening support environment among established businesses and invested community partners like UC Davis,” said Melissa Jones, the Stoel Rives California Offices Managing Partner and Innovation Awards Program Co-Chair. “Our firm is pleased to play a role in spotlighting and advancing area entrepreneurs and innovators, a key constituency and driver of Sacramento’s economy.”

“I’m honored to accept this fantastic award on behalf of the entire UC Davis community,” said Chancellor May. “We are grateful to be recognized for our innovation, because innovation defines so much of our university mission and spirit.”
