Stoel Rives Welcomes Energy Regulatory Attorney to Washington D.C. Office

Washington, D.C. — Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that Richard P. Bonnifield has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Energy practice group. He will be located in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Previously, Bonnifield was a partner in a major Washington, D.C., energy law firm.

Bonnifield is a highly experienced energy regulatory practitioner, who works with major electric and gas utility companies on their strategic legal and regulatory needs, including rates, corporate structure, transactions, tariffs and reliability matters. Prior to private practice, he served as VP of Legal Services and General Counsel for a large investor-owned electric and gas utility company and also served as the General Counsel of the Long Island Power Authority. Bonnifield has a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by electric and gas utilities operating in a heavily regulated industry.

Bonnifield received his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and is admitted to practice before the D.C., Montana State and New York State Bars; U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court.
