Stoel Rives Sponsors Portland Business Journal ‘How Oregon Works’ Series
Portland, OR — Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that for the second year the firm is sponsoring the Portland Business Journal’s “How Oregon Works,” a six-month series that will take an in-depth look at the state’s current and future workforce challenges, trends and opportunities. While last year’s series focused on six of Oregon’s most important industries, for 2019 the series is concentrating on themes in the workplace. The first installment, “Workplace Planning & Strategies,” was published in January and the second, “New Ways to Work,” in March. The remaining installments will include:
- The Talent Gap – June
- Women, Diversity & Equity at Work – August
- A Life in Sales – October
- Education & Training the Workforce of the Future – December
Portland office Co-Managing Partners Penny Serrurier and David Filippi said in a statement, “We received great feedback last year from clients, referral sources, attorneys, and staff, and determined that sponsoring the series is an effective way of communicating our commitment to Oregon’s businesses.”
The PBJ is producing two signature events as part of the series. The first, on May 2, examined issues of equity in the workplace, and Stoel Rives’ attorney Sarah Stauffer Curtiss introduced the keynote speaker, Ben Pring, Director & VP of the Future of Work at Cognizant. The second event, on October 24, will include Stoel Rives’ labor & employment attorney Karen O’Connor on a panel that will take an in-depth look at how work and training have evolved in the Oregon workplace.
