Stoel Rives Recognizes Pro Bono Leaders for 2022 With Andrew Guy Award
PORTLAND, Ore.—Stoel Rives is pleased to announce that it has honored nine attorneys and two paralegals with its 2023 Andrew Guy Pro Bono Award. The firm also named 55 attorneys to its “Pro Bono Honor Roll” for performing 50 or more hours of pro bono service in 2022.
Stoel Rives’ attorneys and paralegals contributed their time and energy in 2022 to numerous worthy causes, including fighting onerous voter restriction legislation and a voter suppression law in a U.S. state, representing a transgender woman who was housed in jail with a man who beat her, and securing asylum for a client who suffered persecution in Namibia on account of his sexual orientation and ethnic minority status.
The Andrew Guy Award is named for a retired Stoel Rives partner who was instrumental in the founding and growth of the firm’s pro bono program, both by volunteering his legal services and as the first chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
The recipients of the 2023 award are:
- Anchorage office—Kevin Cuddy
- Boise office—Mark Bieter
- California offices—Corey Day
- Minneapolis office—Bradley Prowant
- Portland office—Laura Kerr, Christina Risberg (paralegal), Ariel Stavitsky, Ana Trask (paralegal), Cameron Zangenehzadeh

Stoel Rives encourages each of its attorneys to complete at least 50 hours of pro bono service annually, prioritizing pro bono service to persons of limited means or to nonprofit organizations designed primarily to address the needs of persons of limited means. The firm encourages its lawyers to follow their own interests, values, and priorities in deciding which types of pro bono services to render and persons or groups to assist on a pro bono basis.
