Stoel Rives Receives 2023 ‘Tipping the Scales’ Recognition; Honored for Third Straight Year for Promoting More Than 50% Women to Its Partnership Class
PORTLAND, Ore.—The Diversity & Flexibility Alliance named Stoel Rives LLP on its list of law firms “Tipping the Scales” in 2023. The list recognizes law firms that have promoted more than 50% women in their most recent partner class, and 2023 marks the third straight year Stoel Rives has made the list. The firm’s 2023 class included nine attorneys, six of whom were women. The Alliance released its 2023 New Partner Report and honored the Tipping the Scales recipients at its annual conference on November 2. The six new Stoel Rives partners include Veronica Keithley, Emily Kelly, Claire Mitchell, Jenna Poligo, Allison Reynolds and Kristin Russell.
“We are honored to again be included on the Tipping the Scales list. Such recognition points to the palpable results of Stoel Rives’ dedication to mentor, retain, and promote women in our firm, a commitment we are proud to maintain,” said Melissa Jones, Stoel Rives’ firmwide managing partner.
In addition to elevating six women to partnership in 2023, the firm benefits from several women in key positions of leadership, including Melissa Jones, who became the firm’s second female firmwide managing partner in 2020; a majority of the firm’s Executive Committee members; practice group leaders; office managing partners; industry group leaders; chiefs; and directors.
The Alliance’s New Partner Report, which was first released in 2012, is an annual compilation and examination of publicly released data, specifically the gender breakdown of attorneys promoted to partnership, from the organization’s members and the largest and top-grossing U.S. law firms.
Stoel Rives understands the fundamental importance of cultivating and maintaining an inclusive workforce alongside an equitable work environment. In addition to its Tipping the Scales recognition and advancement of women attorneys, Stoel Rives is a founding law firm of Diversity Lab’s Move the Needle Fund. The fund is a five-year model program designed to help law firms measure and reach diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
