Stoel Rives Partner Honored for Business and Civic Leadership
John S. Laney named to Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40
SEATTLE, Wash. — Stoel Rives is proud to announce that the Puget Sound Business Journal has named partner John S. Laney among its 2017 “40 Under 40” honorees, recognizing him as one of the region’s dynamic young business leaders.
“It is such an honor to be included among the 2017 40 Under 40 honorees,” said Laney, a partner in Stoel Rives’ Corporate group. “As a Seattle-area native, I have always been dedicated to helping this region succeed. I look forward to learning more about my fellow honorees and the ways in which they have used innovation to spur the Seattle region’s economic growth.”
Always an impressive group, 40 Under 40 honorees are successful, civic-minded business leaders who contribute to the economic growth and development of the greater Seattle region. For nearly 20 years, the Puget Sound Business Journal has used the 40 Under 40 program to celebrate Seattle’s business success and create an impactful network of up-and-coming community leaders.
“As first an entrepreneur and then an attorney who advises a wide range of business clients, John has a unique ability to identify with and counsel the business leaders who are shaping Seattle’s economy,” said Vanessa Soriano Power, office managing partner of the Stoel Rives Seattle office. “We are happy that John’s contributions are being recognized by this award, and we are proud to be able to count him as a partner at the firm.”
Laney represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, credit finance and other business transactions. He often works with companies in the energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and food and beverage industries, including clients such as Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc.
A dedicated advocate for greater minority representation in the law, Laney has served as a mentor to Asian-American lawyers throughout the Washington legal community and Filipino-American lawyers nationwide. He volunteers his time with organizations such as the Asian Bar Association of Washington and the National Filipino American Lawyers Association. A native of Washington, he holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Washington and earned his law degree from Seattle University School of Law.
The Puget Sound Business Journal will celebrate the 2017 40 Under 40 honorees on Sept. 28 at Benaroya Hall. A special commemorative section also will be published in the Sept. 29 edition of the newspaper.
