Stoel Rives Environmental Practice Lands Top 10 Spot in Law360 Environmental 100 Rankings

The law firm of Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that its environment and natural resources practice achieved the ranking of #8 in the 2015 Law360 Environmental 100, a list of the largest environmental law practices by number of partners globally. The practice, which currently has 39 environmental law partners, was ranked #9 in 2014.

The Law360 ranking helps confirm that Stoel Rives has an exceptionally strong environmental practice, with a deep bench able to handle complex matters with high exposure or possible liability.

Stoel Rives partner and environmental and natural resources practice chair Krista McIntyre said that clients have shifted focus away from more routine work such as auditing, Clean Air Act permitting and hazardous waste system implementation, to more complex and sophisticated work.

"The kind of clients we work for have attracted more in-house environmental professionals who can do a lot of that basic, fundamental work," she said. "Clients are looking for something beyond just legal regulatory knowledge. They want agency relationships, they want industry experience, and they want judgment."

The Law360 rankings are based on partner head count data from 283 U.S.-based law firms, including 197 of the largest 200 firms in the country. Partners counted had to spend at least 50 percent of their time on matters related to a given practice, and firms were allowed to count partners who split their time evenly between two different practice groups as "0.5" in each.
