Stoel Rives Again Named Among the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality

The national law firm earned a perfect score on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index, a leading measure of LGBTQ-inclusive workplace policies at the largest U.S. companies and law firms

PORTLAND, Ore. — Stoel Rives LLP is proud to announce that it once again has been recognized as a national leader in workplace policies and practices to protect LGBTQ workers, earning a perfect score of 100 percent on the prestigious 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a project of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

The CEI is a national benchmarking survey used to assess LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices at Fortune 500 companies.

For 2018, Stoel Rives joins a record-breaking 609 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks, up from 517 last year. That is a single-year increase of more than 15 percent for the CEI, which was launched in 2002.

“Hopefully, in the very near future every company in the U.S. will be inclusive, and we will no longer need to have an equality index,” said Timothy M. Taylor, Chair of Stoel Rives’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Stoel Rives once again qualified for the Best Places to Work designation by earning a perfect score of 100 across all four primary CEI criteria: equal opportunity employment policy, employment benefits for LGBTQ employees, organizational LGBTQ competency, and a public commitment to LGBTQ employees and the LGBTQ community at large.

“While there is much to do and many crucial civil rights battles ahead, thanks to these private sector leaders, the march towards full equality is not slowing down,” said HRC President Chad Griffin.
