Sacramento Business Journal Names Corey M. Day a 2024 ‘40 Under 40’ Award Winner

SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that the Sacramento Business Journal has selected litigator and food & beverage law attorney Corey M. Day to receive its 2024 40 Under 40 award. Day and the other awardees are accomplished young professionals chosen for their career achievements, leadership, influence, and impact within their communities and industries. They will be honored at an event on October 24.

Day represents private clients in federal and state court. Specializing in the alcohol beverage industry, he also counsels restaurant, bar, brewery, winery, and distillery clients on regulatory compliance, licensing, contracts, and employment law. Day has defended clients in labor and employment matters related to wrongful termination, misclassification, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour.

Day is committed to pro bono service and won Stoel Rives’ “Andrew Guy Pro Bono Award” in 2023 and 2021 for his work on behalf of vulnerable individuals and small businesses. He is currently representing a transgender college student seeking protection from a stalker and a transgender woman inmate who has alleged abuse in California’s prison system.

Day is also a stakeholder committee advisor to Alchemist Public Market, an ambitious community-based program launched in Sacramento’s River District by the nonprofit Alchemist Community Development Corporation to help underserved food entrepreneurs launch food businesses and provide low-income neighbors access to healthy food from local sellers.

A U.C. Davis alumnus, Day served as chair of the Davis Chamber of Commerce (DCC) in 2023, vice chair in 2022, and Executive Committee board member and legal counsel from 2019 to 2021. Under his leadership, DCC launched the Small Business Grant Program to stimulate economic growth in Davis, awarding grants to two local businesses to invest in business improvements.
