Penny Serrurier Elected Board Chair of OMSI
PORTLAND, Ore. — Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that Penny Serrurier, a Managing Partner of the firm’s Portland Office, has been elected Board Chair of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Serrurier has served on OMSI’s board since 2011.
OMSI, which was founded in 1944, is one of the nation’s leading science museums, a world-class tourist attraction, and an award-winning educational resource. OMSI operates the largest museum-based, outdoor science education program in the country, with more than 50 interactive traveling exhibits, and provides community outreach programs that bring science learning opportunities to schools and community organizations in nearly every county in Oregon.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead OMSI,” Serrurier said. “In addition to OMSI’s excellent work in science education, OMSI is playing a significant role in the development of Portland’s innovation district, an effort we expect will spread new opportunities across the Northwest. I’m excited to be a part of that.”
“Penny has been an exceptional trustee and advocate and we are delighted that she is stepping into the role of Board Chair,” said Nancy Stueber, OMSI president. “She is passionate about OMSI’s mission and vision for the future, and her leadership experience will be invaluable to our success.”
Serrurier’s law practice focuses on tax exempt organizations, and she helps her clients navigate complex laws and regulations in all aspects of governance, compliance and the tax-related issues that affect nonprofits. She has substantial experience working with higher education institutions, health care organizations, public charities and private foundations on issues involving fundraising, governance, advocacy, tax status, endowment management, and related matters. Serrurier also works with high net worth individuals and families on personal planning matters. Serrurier is a former trustee and board chair of the Oregon Zoo Foundation and former trustee of the Oregon Symphony Foundation.
