Minneapolis Partner Jennifer Johnson Receives Hennepin County Bar Association Excellence Award for Mentoring in the Profession

Press Release

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Stoel Rives is pleased to announce that the Hennepin County Bar Association selected Jennifer Johnson to receive its 2024 Excellence Award for Mentoring in the Profession, which recognizes bar members who exhibit significant contributions via mentorship among the legal profession and the community. Johnson and the other honorees will be profiled in an upcoming issue of the Hennepin Lawyer.

Whether through formal mentorship and coaching or informal mentorship of associates on her Stoel Rives teams or within the Minneapolis office, Johnson serves as a mentor to her greener colleagues, providing junior attorneys with essential guidance to ensure they have the skills, opportunities, and strong collegial relationships needed to fully engage in the workplace and develop successful legal careers. She is also a member of the firmwide and Minneapolis office Coaching and Mentoring Committees, which develop innovative programs and policies that contribute to the firm’s growth through recruitment, retention, and professional development.

In addition, Johnson serves her community via pro bono work through LegalCORPS, a Minnesota nonprofit legal services provider that offers free assistance in nonlitigation business law matters to low-income owners of small businesses and nonprofit organizations in Minnesota. She also served as a volunteer attorney for the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota, a St. Paul-based nonprofit through which she served as a court-appointed legal representative for children who are wards of the state or in foster care.

A member of the firm’s Corporate practice group, Johnson advises companies in Minnesota and nationally on mergers and acquisitions and general transactional matters, focusing on the renewable energy sector. She regularly represents developers, owners, investors, and buyers and sellers of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage projects. Johnson is particularly active in solar development, advising leading solar developers, global renewable energy investors, and some of the world’s largest publicly traded owners, operators, and developers of renewable power.
