Press Release

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Stoel Rives is pleased to announce that Minnesota Lawyer has named corporate partner Jennifer L. Johnson to its 2024 class of the Top Women in Law, which recognizes women who are leaders in their practice areas and instrumental to their companies’ success. The honorees, selected based on the core principles of leadership, professionalism, accomplishment, and passion for making a difference, will be celebrated at an awards event on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Quincy Hall in northeast Minneapolis.

Johnson advises companies in Minnesota and nationally on mergers and acquisitions and general transactional matters, with a focus on the renewable energy sector. She is also a high-impact firm leader, who is expanding Stoel Rives’ highly regarded renewable transaction practice in Minneapolis and supporting the professional development of rising attorneys to achieve career advancement and satisfaction at the firm.

Johnson regularly represents developers, owners, investors, and buyers and sellers of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage projects and is particularly active in solar development, advising leading solar developers, global renewable energy investors, and some of the world’s largest publicly traded owners, operators and developers of renewable power. She works on transactions that facilitate the development of solar projects across the country, including community solar projects in Minnesota, which bring solar-generated power to school districts, businesses, local governments and low-income or other residential customers who don’t own their own homes or could not afford private solar installations.

Johnson, who joined Stoel Rives in 2013, has emerged as a prominent leader in her practice and at the firm. During her tenure with Stoel Rives, she has been an influential and forward-thinking member of the firmwide and Minneapolis Coaching and Mentoring Committees, which develop innovative programs and policies that are significantly contributing to the firm’s growth through recruitment, retention, and professional development and strengthening its supportive and inclusive culture.

Johnson received Stoel Rives’ Andrew Guy Pro Bono Award in 2022. She earned her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota.
