IP Partner Alfredo Villanueva Named a 2021 Portland Business Journal ‘Forty Under 40’ Award Recipient
PORTLAND, Ore. — Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that Alfredo Villanueva has been selected as a recipient of the Portland Business Journal “Forty Under 40” award for 2021. PBJ selected the honorees from nearly 300 nominees based on their career achievements, leadership, influence and impact within their communities and industries. The winners will be honored at a virtual event on July 22. More information can be found here.
Villanueva is a partner in Stoel Rives’ Technology & Intellectual Property (TIP) practice group, where he provides an array of patent and trademark services for clients ranging from individuals and start-ups to medium and large public companies. He has worked on high-profile patent cases and helped his clients protect the intellectual property rights of their patented designs and inventions.
“Alfredo has truly come into his own as an IP attorney in the past several years, but there is much more to him,” IP attorney and former TIP group chair Steve Lovett said. “He also serves as a career role model to young lawyers and has actively worked to increase diversity and foster inclusion in the legal profession.”
Villanueva is co-chair of Stoel Rives’ Portland office Recruiting Committee and is the firm’s TIP practice group ambassador to Diversity Lab’s Move the Needle, a five-year model program in which five law firms nationwide, including Stoel Rives, collaborate to create a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. In these roles, Villanueva has developed a variety of recruiting and hiring initiatives through which Stoel Rives has increased its workforce diversity and established a pipeline to continue hiring diverse talent.
For 14 years, Villanueva has worked with Portland’s St. Andrew’s Legal Clinic (SALC), a nonprofit law clinic that serves more than 1,200 low-income families each year in the Portland area. He has supported SALC by fundraising and providing pro bono legal services. In 2015, he joined the board of directors and in January 2021 was appointed vice president of the board.
