Daily Journal of Commerce Names Stoel Rives’ Partner Sarah Stauffer Curtiss a 2024 Women of Vision Honoree

Press Release

PORTLAND, Ore.—Stoel Rives is pleased to announce that the Daily Journal of Commerce has named partner Sarah Stauffer Curtiss a 2024 Women of Vision honoree, recognition, according to the DJC, for “women who are shaping the built environment with their technical skill, leadership, mentoring, community involvement and the creation of opportunities for the future generation of women in the industries.” The DJC will celebrate Stauffer Curtiss and the other award recipients at an event on October 17, 2024, at The Sentinel in Portland, Oregon.

Stauffer Curtiss is a leading environmental and land use attorney whose high-impact practice shapes the natural and built environment in Oregon, throughout the Pacific Northwest, and across the country. Specializing in large-scale energy and infrastructure projects and complex projects on farm- and forest-zoned lands, she counsels clients in navigating permitting processes, managing the environmental impact of projects and operations, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and land use laws.

A “go-to” permitting attorney for the energy sector, Stauffer Curtiss is sought out by clients developing large-scale transmission, wind, solar, and battery storage projects. Her work involves helping clients address a range of competing priorities that can impede project development and completion, including zoning and impacts to resource lands; habitat, environmental, and visual impacts; and the interests of the community and other stakeholders.

Dedicated to public service, Stauffer Curtiss volunteers with multiple community organizations and devotes substantial time to pro bono work, including assisting The Nature Conservancy with securing land use permits for its restoration of native freshwater and tidal wetlands in Tillamook County.

Influential in the environmental and land use practice areas, Stauffer Curtiss serves on the Program Committee for the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law and is past chair of the Oregon State Bar’s Real Estate and Land Use Section.

Since 2022, Chambers USA has selected Stauffer Curtiss as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers for Business” for Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use and Best Lawyers® has included her in its The Best Lawyers in America guide for Land Use and Zoning Law.
