Attorney Alex Mertens Named One of Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2019 40 Under 40

SEATTLE – Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that partner Alex Mertens has been selected as a recipient of the Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40 award for 2019. The honorees were selected from several hundred nominees based on their career achievements, leadership, influence and impact within their communities and industries. Mertens is a partner in the firm’s project finance practice and co-chair of the Energy & Natural Resources Industry Group. She is experienced in energy finance matters and advises energy developers on issues concerning the acquisition, development, financing and sale of energy projects, with a particular focus on negotiating equity, tax equity and debt financings.

She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy. She is a former partner on the Environmental Collective Action Team of Social Venture Partners for which she was a vice chair in 2014.

Washington Super Lawyers named Mertens as Top Women (Business/Corporate) in 2018. The organization listed her among Rising Stars (Business/Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions) in 2016-2018.

Mertens received her B.A. in economics from Haverford College before obtaining her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
