Partner Matthew Segal, who joined Stoel Rives on November 29, was featured in the Sacramento Bee in a video and an article titled “After prosecuting some of Sacramento’s biggest cases, Matthew Segal moves to law firm,” published December 3, 2021. Segal talked about his career before joining Stoel Rives and his reasons for deciding to make the move to the firm.
Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Segal was chief of the Special Prosecutions Unit and an assistant U.S. attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California. From 1997 to 2004, he was a trial attorney in the United States Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.
In his new role for Stoel Rives, Segal will focus on white-collar crime, antitrust cases, and internal government investigations. “I think it’ll be something of an adjustment, but that’s also part of why I want to do it,” he said. “It’s the new challenge that’s attracted me to the job.”
