ContourGlobal Acquires Standalone Solar PV and Hybrid Solar PV and Storage Portfolios

Stoel Rives congratulates ContourGlobal, a KKR-backed global independent power producer, on three successful solar and storage portfolio acquisitions in the United States. These include a 151 MWdc solar portfolio in South Carolina , a two-phase solar-plus-extended duration storage project located in Arizona (anticipated to have 888 MWp of hybrid capacity), and a 446 MWp portfolio of solar PV projects in Colorado and Virginia . The acquisitions expand ContourGlobal’s planned solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity in the United States to almost 1.5 GW.

The South Carolina transaction, involving two late-development-stage solar PV projects slated for commercial operation in 2029, was ContourGlobal’s inaugural renewable energy project acquisition in North America.

The Arizona acquisition was ContourGlobal’s first in the western United States. It features a hybrid project that is anticipated to have an installed capacity of 567 MWp of PV power generation and 321 MW/1.3 GWh of BESS (four hours duration), positioning it to play a key role in delivering clean, renewable energy to customers in Arizona and the CAISO and WECC-Southwest regions.

The acquisition of a 446 MWp portfolio of solar PV projects in Colorado and Virginia strengthens ContourGlobal’s presence in the WECC and PJM interconnection markets. The Colorado assets include 324 MWp already in construction, while the Virginia project of 122 MWp is expected to start construction in 2026.

ContourGlobal develops, acquires, and operates electricity generation assets worldwide and currently manages more than 6.0 GW of installed capacity in 18 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North and South America.
