Together Center Expands Campus and Collaborates with Affordable Housing Developers to Bring Housing and Human Services Together in Redmond, Wash.
We’d like to congratulate our client Together Center on the continued expansion of its health and human services hub and its collaborative efforts to increase access to new and convenient affordable housing.
Together Center has entered into a long-term lease of its downtown Redmond campus to Inland Group and Horizon Housing Alliance. Inland, Horizon, and Together Center, in cooperation, will create 200 units of affordable housing and 80 units of permanent supportive housing for families experiencing homelessness in two contemporary residential towers to be located above Together Center’s newly expanded and enhanced nonprofit services center. The addition of accessible affordable housing turns Together Center’s modern new campus into a fully integrated hub for 20 nonprofit members who provide essential services such as healthcare, counseling, job readiness, childcare, and shelter to more than 28,000 people a year.
Together Center was started in 1990 by four nonprofits – based on the idea that by sharing the same space, they could multiply their impact in their community and allow for the addition of new partner organizations. Through loans from their founders, they purchased an old strip mall in downtown Redmond to house the original members and to offer low-cost, co-located space to other agencies. Together Center’s new location and campus expansions will offer increased office and service spaces and, in the words of CEO Kim Sarnecki, “will be a beautiful new campus for whole-person health, housing and human services.”
The Stoel Rives deal team represented Together Center on the development agreement, condominium creation, ground lease, and temporary relocation of all Together Center nonprofit members. The team was led by affordable housing attorneys Joe McCarthy, Sallie Lin, and Kate Mathews with contributions from numerous firm attorneys and staff members.
