Henry Hewitt to Receive 2012 Judge Learned Hand Lifetime Achievement Award

PORTLAND- Stoel Rives is proud to announce that long-time partner Henry Hewitt will be honored with the Judge Learned Hand Lifetime Achievement Award. Recipients are selected based on their demonstration of professional excellence and contribution to the legal community. The award will be presented by the Oregon Area Jewish Committee during a luncheon at the Governor Hotel on June 13, 2012.

Hewitt served as chair of Stoel Rives from 1989 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2005, and served as leader of the firm's Business Services practice group from 2005 to 2009. He has also served as an advisor to the boards of companies such as Tektronix, PacifiCorp, Fred Meyer and Electro Scientific Industries, among others. Professional honors include leadership, merit and public service awards from the Oregon State Bar and the Henry H. Hewitt Access to Justice Award. He has been selected by Best Lawyers as Corporate Compliance Law Lawyer of the Year in 2012 for Portland and has been described as "the dean of corporate law" in Portland by Chambers USA.

Hewitt has a long history of community engagement. He served on the boards of many organizations, including Lawyers' Campaign for Equal Justice, Friends of the Children, Oregon Health & Science University, March of Dimes, Oregon Symphony Association, The Library Foundation, Oregon Graduate Institute and Delaunay Mental Health Association. He has also served as chair of the Oregon Transportation Commission and is a lifetime member of the Willamette University Board of Trustees.
