PORTLAND- Edward J. Reeves, a partner at Stoel Rives LLP, is being honored by
Central City Concern of Portland for providing extensive pro-bono legal counsel to the non-profit agency since the mid-1980s. Reeves will be recognized at CCC's annual Working Our Way Home luncheon on November 1, 2011.
"We are very proud of Ed's years of work with CCC, a highly respected Portland agency devoted to working on all aspects of the problem of homelessness," said Wally Van Valkenburg, managing partner of the Portland office. "Stoel Rives believes in giving back to our communities, and Ed's devotion to CCC exemplifies that value."
Reeves' work continues the firm's connection to CCC that began in the late 1970s when former partners Hardy J. Myers and George K. Meier were instrumental in the creation of the agency. CCC works to end homelessness through a variety of programs including housing, health and substance abuse assistance, and volunteer and employment opportunities.
At the luncheon, CCC will also honor the memory of Harold Saltzman, a long-time Portland businessman and civic leader who died earlier this year. Saltzman was an advocate for homeless veterans and helped create CCC's annual Veterans Picnic in 2008.
Proceeds from the luncheon benefit CCC's enhanced self-sufficiency programs with a focus on employment. Information on how to support CCC is available at www.centralcityconcern.org/contribute.
