SAN DIEGO- Stoel Rives LLP, a full-service U.S. business law firm, today announced that S. Wayne Rosenbaum and Elizabeth A. Cason have joined the firm's San Diego office. Rosenbaum, a partner, and Cason, of counsel, will practice in the firm's Environment, Land Use and Natural Resources group. The duo adds particular depth to the areas of water quality, environmental regulatory compliance and land use related to infrastructure and energy projects. With their arrival, Stoel Rives now has 17 California-based environmental and land use attorneys, who work closely with the firm's other California practices.

"We are committed to a California course of action that addresses the local needs of our clients and provides solutions to all aspects of their business throughout the state," said Tim Taylor, managing partner of the firm's four California offices. "That's why we have more than doubled the number of California-based lawyers in the past three years. The addition of Wayne and Elizabeth further enhances our reputation as a go-to law firm for public and private clients seeking environmental and natural resources counsel in California."

"Driven in part by its aggressive greenhouse gas regulation, California has become a hub of renewable energy and energy repowering projects," said Howard Susman, a partner in the firm's Energy Development group who opened the firm's San Diego office in 2005. "Much of this business growth is focused right here in southern California, including solar and wind generation and development. I'm delighted to welcome Wayne and Elizabeth to our San Diego legal team. Our clients will benefit greatly from their experience in environmental permitting, compliance, water quality and land use issues."

Rosenbaum was previously a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP. Before entering private practice, he served with the Department of the Navy, Office of General Counsel, where he concentrated on transfer of contaminated properties, environmental audits, waste minimization plans, regulation of stormwater discharges at federal facilities and interagency funding of environmental projects.

Cason, also formerly at Foley & Lardner LLP, has experience in land use, real estate and environmental litigation. She has assisted in development projects in San Diego, Orange, Riverside and Santa Barbara Counties, and has extensive experience with the financing of power generation facilities in California and casinos in Michigan and the Bahamas. She also has represented clients in public offerings, merger agreements and site cleanup efforts.
