PORTLAND- On the local law landscape, Stoel Rives has been firmly rooted in the Pacific Northwest for 122 years. Over a period of several years, Tom Stoel, now 91 and Stoel Rives partner since 1942, co-wrote a firm history book with George Fraser, now 88, and partner since 1952. The 200 page book details the firm's history from 1883-2005 including the growth of the firm, women's roles within the firm, various mergers, as well as economic and other factors that shaped the firm's culture over time. The book contains intriguing old time photos of Portlanders (provided by the Historical Society), the cityscape, and various Stoel Rives attorneys..
Stoel, retired since 1984, still comes in to the office frequently as does Fraser, who has been retired since 1989.
A book signing party was held Thursday April 28th.
