Stoel Rives Names a Salt Lake Principal as the Firm's New Business Services Group Leader

SALT LAKE CITY- Stoel Rives LLP, a full service, U.S. business law firm, has appointed Reed W. Topham as Practice Group Leader for the firm's Business Services Group. As Practice Group Leader, Reed is responsible for providing strategic direction and management for the practice group, which includes more than 120 attorneys in 12 offices practicing in the areas of corporate, finance, securities, employee benefits, tax and wealth management.

In addition to his management responsibility, Reed will continue to maintain an active practice. With 18 years of experience, Reed advises clients on securities law compliance, corporate governance issues and the sale and acquisition of businesses. He has extensive experience in public and private financings, both debt and equity, particularly initial public offerings and Rule 144A Transactions. In addition to advising public and large private companies, a portion of his practice consists of representing emerging businesses in various industries.

Earlier this year Reed was appointed to the firm's Executive Committee, which is responsible for providing strategic leadership, management and direction for the firm. He is included in the 2007 and 2008 editions of Chambers USA and in the 2008 editions of Utah Business Magazine's Legal Elite and The Best Lawyers in America. Reed also has an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell. 

Reed received a J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1991 and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in 1988.
