Workshop Offers Insights for Angel Investors

Byron McCann, co-chair of Northwest Energy Angels, reported in Xconomy on comments made by Stoel Rives attorney CJ Voss and other panelists at the Angel Capital Association's "Power of Angel Investing Workshop" on February 2, 2011. The workshop focused on the importance of due diligence and reasonable valuation determinations in the investment decision-making process.

Voss noted that focusing on the most important due diligence questions for a given venture is necessary to manage time. He also stated that investors should review change of control provisions in the prospective portfolio company's existing contracts to identify potential issues that could affect the long term value of the customer relationship in the event of an acquisition of the company.
