Exporters Beware: Avoid the Pitfalls Associated With Inadequate Legal Documentation
5/6/2010

Summary:

Brad Carlson of Idaho Business Review reported on comments made by Stoel Rives attorney Jason Prince at a May 5 seminar on export strategies held at Boise State University. To ensure intellectual property protection and contract enforcement abroad, Prince advised exporters to identify and take into account the unique laws of each country targeted for export. He also recommended utilizing not only a U.S. attorney versed in international commercial law issues, but also an attorney based in the buyer's country to review contracts for compliance with foreign law. Stoel Rives, for example, provides its export clients access to the international Terralex® network of leading independent law firms, numbering more than 16,000 attorneys in approximately 100 countries.
