President Obama's Top Tax Policy Nominee Withdraws`
6/1/2009
Stoel Rives attorney Greg Jenner commented in Bloomberg.com on the decision by Elizabeth Garrett to withdraw as President Barack Obama's nominee for Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Tax Policy. In a statement, Garrett cited "personal considerations" for her decision.
Jenner, who served in the position from 2002 through 2004, said the assistant secretary for tax policy is the "pivot point" for all tax policy issues within an administration. The official represents "the face of tax for the administration and provides a key buffer against all the 'novel' tax proposals that get made."
