Wind Energy
With global energy demand expected to spike by 35 percent by 2030, and governments looking to mitigate the effect of carbon-induced climate change through renewable portfolio standards and other means, wind energy stands poised to transform our nation's energy future. Today, the United States is already home to over 35,000 wind turbines generating over 40,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity, enough to power over 10 million American households. The best is likely yet to come, as the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) estimates that wind power will account for 20 percent of all electricity generated in the U.S. by 2030. The reason is simple: much of America's prime wind resource areas remain undeveloped, while few energy technologies can compete with wind in reducing our carbon emissions and earth impacts.
