ExperienceChris Hermann concentrates his practice in environmental and environmental insurance law. He regularly advises policyholders on environmental liability insurance coverage claims and strategies for accelerated access to the cash value of historic insurance policies through negotiated cash-out settlements on behalf of policyholders.
Chris frequently counsels clients on developing and persuading regulators to approve cost-effective cleanups, assists with complex regulatory compliance issues and permitting and represents industrial entities in enforcement actions. He also advises clients on environmental issues in bankruptcy proceedings and corporate and real estate transactions.
Chris frequently authors articles for and speaks at legal and business conferences on environmental cleanup and compliance issues, environmental liability insurance issues, and environmental issues in corporate and real estate transactions.

Print to wordExperienceChris Hermann is a partner in the Portland, Oregon office of Stoel Rives. He is the founding chair of the Stoel Rives Winery and Vineyard Management group. He is also co-chair of the firm's Food, Beverage and Hospitality group. He has worked with Northwest wineries, vineyards, breweries and distilleries for many years. Chris has particular experience with transactions involving the purchase and sale of wineries and vineyards, formation of LLCs to own and operate wineries and vineyards, preparing and prosecuting trademark applications, obtaining water rights and land use permits and approvals, advising owners on employment and termination agreements with winemakers, and drafting and negotiating grape purchase contracts, vineyard leases and custom crush, joint proprietorship, vineyard development and maintenance, and bottling and distribution agreements.
Chris authored and now is editor of the only comprehensive discussion of legal issues concerning the Oregon wine industry entitled, The Law of Wine - Oregon. He frequently speaks at legal and business conferences in Oregon, Washington and California on winery, vineyard, brewery and distillery related legal and business issues.
